Course Instructor’s Workshop on the Guidance Framework for Better Air Quality in Asian Cities

About this Course

Background

To disseminate information on the Guidance Framework, Clean Air Asia is undertaking activities that promote the approach espoused in the document to guide AQM processes at the national and city levels. It is currently coordinating and working with key stakeholders in identified pilot countries – China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines – in determining and undertaking activities that will result in overall improved AQM in these countries and respective cities.

 

Objectives

The training workshop that aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of experts, partners, and other key stakeholders to promote and use the Guidance Framework to improve AQM and work towards the achievement of the LTV. The workshop is designed to ensure that the courses delivered are in line with indicators and recommended steps elaborated in the Guidance Framework by:
• Providing an overview of the Guidance Framework approach and current training courses;
• Enhancement (update) of technical knowledge of potential course instructors/trainers in topics covered in Clean Air Asia’s existing training modules; and
• Improvement of skills necessary to deliver and conduct training activities, promote and implement the Guidance Framework.

Experts (researchers, professors) and staff of Clean Air Asia’s existing training partners and networks and technical staff of training organizations/potential training partners

Sven Callebaut

Mr. Sven S. Callebaut

Training Adviser | Independent Consultant

Sven is a trade economist specialized in LDCs economies and has worked as a Capacity Development Adviser for the ASEAN/GIZ Programme on Cities, Environment and Transport (CET), supporting the programme TRAIN-X deployment and application to the field of Clean Air for Smaller Cities, Sustainable Port Development, Transport and Climate Change and, more recently, Disaster Risk Management. He also sits as a member of Clean Air Asia’s IBAQ Programme Advisory Committee providing expert advice on its capacity building program. He holds a Master Degree in Economics from La Sorbonne University in Paris and recently completed the Harvard Kennedy School of Government “Mastering Trade Policy” Executive Programme.

 

 

Supat

Dr. Supat Wangwongwatana

Senior Programme Specialist, Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRCAP), Senior Instructor, Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University

Dr. Supat Wangwongwatana has over 30 years of experience in environmental management, environmental quality control, and environmental policy planning. He was Director General of the Pollution Control Department of Thailand and has been a member of various international advisory committees and resource person for ADB, the World Bank, and the US-Asia Environmental Partnership. He continues to give lectures at various universities and to speak at international seminars and conferences. He holds a doctorate degree in Air Pollution Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and is currently the Senior Programme Specialist of the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRCAP) and a member of the Board of Public Health Faculty of Thammasat University.
