Part II Regional Training on Guidance Framework Implementation

About this Course

An additional form of support that Clean Air Asia is able to provide towards promoting the Guidance Framework and providing technical guidance and support to cities and countries that have expressed interest and commitment to achieve better air quality. A standardized set of training courses has been developed to:

  • Provide an overview of the Guidance Framework, as a recognized guidance document on air quality management (AQM) in Asia;
  • Provide tools that can be used to evaluate existing AQM programs using the roadmap and indicators recommended in the Guidance Framework; and
  • Build the capacity of cities and countries to implement activities towards improving AQM.

Target Audience

Policy-makers at the national and city levels, implementers (i.e., Technical Officers, Engineers, Environment Specialists, etc.), and other stakeholders (including NGOs, research institutions, members of the academe) involved in AQM design, planning, and implementation

Duration and Methodology As a face-to-face workshop, the course is designed to cover one module per day, with lectures, group discussions, self-assessment vis-à-vis the Guidance Framework roadmap, and identification of concrete and implementable actions. Alternatively, the modules can also be delivered individually, depending on the identified need or priorities.

 

Module 1. Ambient Air Quality Standards and Monitoring

The goal of the course is to enable participants to have a better understanding of key concepts and processes to develop, review, and update ambient air quality standards and monitoring.

 

Module 2. Emissions Inventory and Modelling

The goal of the course is to enable participants to understand key concepts, approaches, and considerations in compiling emissions inventories and modelling.

 

Module 3. Health and Other Impacts

The course aims to enable participants to assess and reduce the impact of air pollution on human health and the environment.

 

Module 4. Communicating Air Quality

The course aims to enable participants to assess the state of air quality communication in their country or city.

 

Module 5. Clean Air Action Plans

The course aims to enable participants to determine factors involved in developing and implementing clean air action plans.

 

Module 6. Governance

The course aims to enable participants to assess and improve the air quality governance of a country or city.
