Guidance Area 4. Air Quality Communication

About this Course

About the Guidance Framework Modules

The set of modules in AQM supplements the Guidance Framework and aims to provide conceptual elaboration and practical guidance to operationalize recommended steps and actions stipulated in the document. For each of the Guidance Framework areas, there is a corresponding training module that aims to improve understanding of the user on the AQM topic or issue covered.

The training modules are based on the Foundation Course in AQM (SEI, 2008), which aimed to enhance capacity through the provision of a good groundwork in the key components relevant to managing urban air quality.

These six modules make up the IBAQ Programme’s flagship training course on Guidance Framework implementation. Designed as self-paced reference materials (i.e. manuals), these are envisaged to enable users to apply the concepts and guide them in undertaking the recommended action steps to move from their current state of AQM to the next, as detailed in the Guidance Framework. These are intended to be studied in part (i.e. a stand-alone manual) or in whole (in conjunction with one or several other modules), to cater to the different capacity building needs and pace of learning of target stakeholder groups.

Target users/trainees

Target users are AQM practitioners, technical staff at the national and local levels involved in AQM activities, and researchers interested in the Guidance Framework approach and ways by which the Long-Term Vision on Urban Air Quality in Asia can be realized.
