Training paves way forward for strategic air quality monitoring in Vietnam

Asian policy makers ready to integrate co-benefits of air quality and climate change into policy making

Twenty-eight policy makers and influencers, both from the city and national levels, from 14 countries1 across the region learned the importance of co-benefits through a regional training workshop co-organized by Clean Air Asia and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). The training workshop was conducted with support from the Integrated Programme for Better Air Quality in Asia (IBAQ Programme) on 23 March 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Can Tho officials agree on air quality management strategies

Viet Nam’s cities set to embark on clean air action planning

At a workshop in Hanoi on November 21, representatives from eight provinces (Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Hung Yen, and Hoa Binh) and three cities (Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Can Tho) used the Guidance Framework for Better Air Quality in Asian Cities developed by Clean Air Asia’s Integrated Programme for Better Air Quality in Asia (IBAQ Programme) to assist with the development of air quality management plans that will address air pollution and contribute to the overall development of cities.

Emissions inventories vital to air quality management in China

The event – organized by Tsinghua University and Clean Air Asia and co-organized by the China Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre, the Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning, South China University of Technology and Nanjing University – brought together 30 academics and experts to share the latest research and practices on the compilation of emissions inventories. In attendance were about 300 representatives from environmental protection bureaus and scientific research institutes.
